Let us go on a journey and look at some of the best places to visit near Varanasi.



Sarnath is just a little way outside Varanasi but it is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Buddhists. This site is known as Dhamek Stupa where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after enlightenment. Here tourists are able to visit dense forests and go on adventurous trails along with catching a glimpse of the beautiful ChandraPrabha Waterfall that comes down from a height of 66 meters.


5. Jaunpur

Jaunpur has a vast historical background and therefore it is famous for its splendid architecture. Built by the Sharqi dynasty, Jaunpur Fort still represents its glorious past. The Shahi Bridge built in the 16th century is a marvelous architectural work that crosses Gomti River providing an amazing vision of the whole area around it. The rich food culture within Jaunpur besides its bustling markets makes it more exciting in exploring different things.



The quaint village of Sarnath hosts one ancient Buddhist monument known as The Chaukhandi Stupa.This stupa has intricate carvings and inscriptions because it is said to mark the spot where Lord Budhha met his first disciples.The fact that one can have a serene atmosphere here and a wide view of open plains surrounding this place makes it perfect for meditation or self reflection.


Seated in the Ganges' eastern shore is the charming Ramnagar Fort- a symbol of Varanasi's regal heritage. This majestic fortress was constructed by Maharaja of Varanasi in eighteenth century, and it reflects an amalgamation between a Mughal and Rajput architectural style. Its opulent courtyards, museum displaying vintage cars and the famous Ramnagar Palace where lavish festivities take place during annual Ram Navami festival are open to tourists.
