New Delhi- Amid the diplomatic high tension between India and Canada over the murder of Khalistan Tiger Force mastermind Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the United States of America expressed its deep concern and said on Thursday that it was not giving 'no special exemption' to India in the matter and is in constant contact with both the countries. The White House also asked India to cooperate in any kind of investigation.
On Thursday India suspended visa services for Canadian nationals indefinitely amid the ongoing tension between the two countries with effect from 21 September 2023 and the visa services will be suspended till further notice. Ottawa also temporarily adjusting its staff presence as India has asked Canada to downsize its diplomatic staff in the country.
This comes after Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Justin Trudeau on Monday said that Canada's security agencies had information indicating agents of the Indian government had assassinated the Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
India rejected the comments of the Canadian Prime Minister and said that those claims were just absurd and motivated.
