Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by eight runs in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match played at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St. Vincent, on Tuesday (June 25) to book a place in the semifinals of the ongoing shortest format mega-event. The Rashid Khan-led side needed a win over the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side to pip Australia in the Group 1 points table and finish in the top two, and they managed to achieve the objective by successfully defending the total of 115 runs.
The win over Bangladesh helped Afghanistan qualify for the T20 World Cup semifinals for the first time in history, and in the knockouts, they are joined by defending champions England, world No. 1 T20I team India, and South Africa.
While England became the first team to qualify for the semifinals after getting the better of the United States of America by 10 wickets on Sunday (June 23), India and South Africa topped Groups 1 and 2, respectively.
