Bengaluru’s streets witnessed a heart-wrenching scene when a man, once reportedly an engineer at a reputed tech firm, was found begging, sparking widespread discussion about mental health. The incident came to light after Instagram user @sharath_yuvaraja_official shared videos of the man, who claimed to have worked as a product engineer at Mindtree in Sattva Global City, previously known as Global Village Tech Park.
According to the post, the man pursued his MS in Frankfurt, Germany, and enjoyed a successful career until a series of personal tragedies—the loss of his parents and a long-term girlfriend—pushed him into a downward spiral.
The videos show him dishevelled, wearing a red T-shirt, and speaking incoherently about topics ranging from meditation to philosophical concepts by David Hume, Einstein’s theories, and brain structures.
Sharath, the original poster, wrote, “Mental health is a critical thing which can lead to such trauma if not cared for at the right time. For sure, he is not bluffing—his English accent can tell his past was beautiful. Due to some unfortunate events, he became psychologically traumatised.”
Sharath also claimed to have offered financial help and contacted an NGO for support. However, the organisation indicated that police involvement would be required for intervention.
The man was first seen near JSS College Road in Jayanagar’s 8th Block and later in the 4th Block. Witnesses noted he appeared intoxicated and resisted any assistance. The videos have since garnered attention online, with users expressing shock and urging action.
“This is shocking but shows how fragile life can be. Losing someone you love is a pain words can barely capture,” commented one user.
“Shocking to see such incidents but they prove the existence of fate! Hope he gets well soon,” wrote another.
