Why is it important for public figures like Mukesh Ambani to participate in elections?


Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, his wife and Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani, and other members of the Ambani family cast their vote on Wednesday in the Maharashtra assembly elections.

Earlier today, Mukesh Ambani arrived at a voting booth in Mumbai with his sons Anant Ambani and Akash Ambani, and daughter-in-law Shloka Mehta. Later, Nita Ambani and daughter Isha Ambani also exercised their franchise.


“I have just cast my vote. It is an extremely proud feeling as a citizen of Mumbai to exercise my right to vote. I hope all Mumbaikars have come out and voted today," Nita Ambani said after voting.

Voting was held in all 288 constituencies of Maharashtra in a single phase on Wednesday. The state has recorded a voter turnout of 58.22 per cent till 5 pm, according to the latest data released by the Election Commission.

Several prominent industry leaders such as former HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh, Housing Development Finance Corporation CEO Keki Mistry, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran, Piramal Group chairman Ajay Piramal, Raymond Group MP Gautam Singhania and Hindustan Construction Company MD Ajit Gulabchand cast their votes in Mumbai today.

Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Govinda, Hema Malini and her daughter Esha Deol, Kartik Aryan, Rajkummar Rao, Akshay Kumar and Madhuri Dixit also exercised their franchise at various polling booths across Mumbai.
